Why choose EzAlt for WooCommerce alt text
· Lidor Asulin
Most stores do not need another dashboard. They need the empty alt fields in the Media Library filled in, without someone opening a thousand attachments by hand. EzAlt is a WordPress plugin built for that job, especially when the images belong to WooCommerce products.
The plugin was formerly listed on WordPress.org as AltMagic. It is the same plugin. Updates still arrive on the original listing.
It does not rewrite work you already did
Existing alt text is skipped. EzAlt looks for images that are missing a description and leaves the rest alone. That is the default, not an option you have to remember to turn on.
If you want a second look before anything is saved, bulk generation can go to a review queue. You approve, edit, or reject each draft. Approving a draft does not spend another credit. Regenerating does.
Product images get product context
A filename like IMG_4481.jpg does not tell a shopper, or a search engine, what is in the photo. When an image belongs to a WooCommerce product, EzAlt can use the product name, SKU, and attributes. Price is not sent.
The result is still a description of the image, not a keyword list. You should read it before you rely on it. EzAlt does not promise rankings or accessibility compliance.
Every feature is included
Bulk generation, generation on upload, and single-image generation all work with the free starter credits. New sites receive 5 credits. One credit is one successful image.
Paid packs are one-time image quotas, bought inside the plugin so they attach to the correct site. Nothing in the plugin is locked behind a plan. Packs start at $4.99 for 100 images, and most stores start at 1,000 images for $19.99.
What to do next
Install EzAlt from WordPress.org, open Media → EzAlt AI, and see how many images are missing alt text. Five images are enough to judge the writing. If the library is large, read how credits map to a catalog before you buy a pack.
